STARGATE SG-1 - DO NO HARM

In Stargate SG-1 - Do No Harm, a Pentagon strike team joins Stargate Command to supplement the losses that Stargate Command has recently suffered. The leader of the team, Colonel Dave Dixon has connections to a past that Colonel Jack O'Neill would rather forget. These two are forced to work together on a planet - that suddenly is exposed to a plague.

In a follow up to the TV epsiode of A Matter of Time, I was frustrated with both Dixon and O'Neill refusing to talk to each other about what had happened to their mutual comrade. Actually I wanted a bigger dustoff between the two of them because of their antagonism towards each other than what they had shown in the book. The cover of the book is misleading as it makes it appear that Dr. Frasier has a much larger role in the book than she really does because of the illness that happens on the planet. Frasier is a major influence on the book - but that influence is at the very end of the book, and she is still not that big of a driving force even at the end of the book.

STARGATE UNIVERSE - AIR

In Air, a novelization of the TV show Stargate Universe, a group of scientists and soldiers accidentally travel through a Stargate onto an Ancient starship in deep space with no way home.

A spin off of the TV shows Stargate-SG1 and Stargate: Atlantis, this novelization is based on the 3-part pilot episodes for the show Stargate Universe. When they discover the secret to the ninth chevron on the Stargate created by the Ancients, the planet the scientists and soldiers are on get attacked and they are forced to evacuate through the Stargate without knowing where they are going. The Ancient starship they wind up on has limited resources and they desperately search for a planet to replenish themselves before they all die.

The driven scientist Rush has his own determined agenda of discovering everything about the starship of the Ancients - the people who built the Stargates - with no regard to the wishes of everyone else of trying to get back home to Earth. He even tries to take command of the entire mission despite the fact that he has no authority to do so. Dr. Rush's arrogance is very unlikeable and makes you want to have the soldiers frag him so they can all go home.

STARGATE SG-1 - ROSWELL

Fandemonium Books

Stargate SG-1's, Roswell has the Stargate team on a mission gone wrong and a future General Sam Carter sends the rest of SG-1 after them. After various incidents, they wind up back in the past in Roswell, New Mexico 1947 - where the original UFO and aliens crash-landed - as they search for a lost Asgard.

I happen to like time travel stories and considering that the Asgard look like the grey aliens from the Roswell incident, it was only a matter of time that a story would revolve around the Asgard and Roswell. With the ship SG-1 uses considered as a UFO, it was funny how the alien Teal'c is the expert on Roswell trivia as the United States military at the Roswell Army Air Field tries to deal with the Asgard and their technology and not a weather balloon. The book even deals with the alien autopsies. Since dealing with the Stargate, they deal with quantum theory. The book explores the consequences of have the timeline being changed by SG-1's actions as well as exploring predestination events like the Tunguska explosion with the engine of a Goa'uld ship exploding. Having SG-1 meet some famous figures like H.P. Lovecraft is rather fun as well. It is sad that changing the timeline causes Colonel Cameron Mitchell to become a Jaffa First Prime in order for him to survive. This puts the pressure on SG-1 to correct the timeline and go home as the Goa'uld invade New York City from space.

Stargate - SG-1 - The Cost of Honor

Fandemonium Books

Written by Sally Malcolm

Copyright 2007 by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer

Stargate SG-1's The Cost of Honor is the sequel to A Matter of Honor, which is a sequel to one of the Stargate SG-1 TV episodes "A Matter of Time" where an SG team was stranded on a planet at the edge of a black hole. Because of Jack's deceptive practices to rescue the stranded SG team, Jack and his team of SG-1 are sent as prisoners to an alien world whose people the Earth government is trying to have diplomatic relations with.

With Jack feeling extreme guilt for leaving an SG team stranded for years at the event horizon of a black hole, the usually dependable Colonel Jack O'Neill pays a high price for going to the extremes of rescuing the stranded team - with Major Samantha Carter paying the highest price of this decision by being placed in an Ancient torture machine by the unscrupulous alien head of state. We feel Jack's pain, as well as Carter's, as Jack seems to lose everything that is dear to him.
