ANGEL - haunted

SIMON PULSE

In haunted, written by Jeff Mariotte, wanna-be actress Cordelia becomes a contestant on a reality TV series in a haunted house. When Cordelia gets a vision in the middle of the show, she sends a message through the cameras and the webcams to Angel, and Angel Investigations, to search for the girl in Cordelia's vision. Meanwhile, the hauntings in the reality series haunted house become dangerously real in the contestant eliminations - and the TV series is no longer a game.

This book reminds me of the TV series Ghost Hunters, as the characters experience the various paranormal events in the haunted house - while the webcams send the character's images through the net. You also feel for the girl victim of Cordelia's vision as the girl's identity is slowly taken away from her as a result of the lawyers from Wolfram & Hart and their demonic partners.

Star Trek - The Lost Era - Deny Thy Father

Star Trek's - The Lost Era - Deny Thy Father
is about Will Riker and his father Kyle Riker. Will is an over-achieving cadet at Starfleet Academy before his posting to the Enterprise, and Starfleet civilian consultant Kyle is on the run from Starfleet security who have been brainwashed to be Kyle's assassins.

Even though Will and Kyle are in the same book, they never actually get together. In fact, even Will's teacher tries to persuade Will that he should get together with his father, especially on Father's Day, but unfortunately Will refuses to meet his father as they were never close to begin with. The story does connect Will and Kyle with the fact that the entities involved with Kyle's assassination is keeping an eye on Will at the Academy, while the entities continue to search for Kyle. The story also shows how very similar Will and Kyle are alike in both their drive and as well as with their relationships with women. Will and Kyle's drive often gets them in trouble, as in Will's various hearings with the Academy's Superintendent and Kyle's involvement with a planet's rebellion.
