In The Flaxen Femme Fatale, written by John Zakour, Private Eye Zachary Nixon Johnson is approached by a flaxen haired femme fatale in his office who warns him not to find her - then disappears in front of his eyes.

Part of the Zachary Nixon Johnson series where Johnson is the last freelance P.I. on Earth, Johnson knows he is in trouble when the military wants him to find this femme fatale - who mysteriously looks like his secretary/niece, who is considered the most powerful PSI in the world.

Johnson needs all the help he can get on this woman hunt, including HARV his annoying holographic computer hardwired directly into Johnson's brain and GUS his powerful cheerful weapon, whether wanted or unwanted in dealing with this flaxen femme fatale - who is very powerful, and deadly. I like the fact that he needed all that help, even from space. Aside from the fact that P.I's tend to be loners, the help - along with his doctor fiance - also tends to keep Johnson's ego in check.

Johnson's adventures makes the series very funny and is a quick read.

THE FROST HAIRED VIXEN

DAW BOOKS, INC.

Written by John Zakour

Cover art by Michael Koelsh.

In The Frost-Haired Vixen written by John Zakour, a Zachary Nixon Johnson book, Zach Nixon - the last private investigator in the world of 2061 - is hired by Santana Clausa, the beautiful CEO of the North Pole Organization. Santana wants Zach because two of her elves up at the North Pole have been murdered.  Now, Zach must find the killer before the Holiday is ruined.

Zach and his A.I. companion HARV - who is painfully hard wired into Zach's brain - are transported to the North Pole to secretly infiltrate a travel tour group that is visiting the "happiest, safest place on Earth." The tour group is composed of an interesting set of character suspects who might have killed the mutant elves.

The series is a funny pulp fiction series set in the future. The humor usually deals with the anachronisms and the politics of the future. The humor also comes with Zach having an off-the-wall crew of associates and an equally group of off-the-wall bad guys who are usually not as smart as Zach's people are. The things that are related to Santa Claus are all satirized in this book, which gives new meaning to "naughty or nice."

Zach always has beautiful, erotic, and powerful superhuman women around him as clients - which upsets his lady, the beautiful, smart, and talented Dr. Electra. Santana Clausa is no exception to his beautiful women clients. While the various women around Zach are sexy, I am very fond of Electra - who I think is hot.

JAILBAIT ZOMBIE

EOS
An Imprint of HarperCollins Publishers

Written by Mario Acevedo

In Jailbait Zombie, a Felix Gomez novel, a crow delivers a message from the Araneum to vampire private investigator Felix Gomez. Vampire Gomez is sent on a mission by the Araneum to search for who is creating an army of zombies before the zombies reveal the existence of the supernatural to humans. Along the way, Felix is forced to be accompanied by a clairvoyant teenage girl who demands that Felix make her a vampire.

Due to their decomposition, it is easier than one might think to locate zombies because of their smell - which turns off undead vampires like Felix. Since teenager Phaedra is related to organized gangsters, it is funny that Felix gets some reluctant help from the gangsters as part of their business - as the gangsters become unwitting victims of the zombies. Phaedra's terminal condition is rather sad and makes you understand why she wants Felix to make her a vampire. Felix is reluctant to turn her into a vampire, and all the curse that goes with it, but Phaedra's psychic clairvoyant powers make it hard to resist.

THE RADIOACTIVE REDHEAD

DAW Books

Written by John Zakour & Lawrence Ganem

Cover art by Michael Koelsh

In The Radioactive Redhead, a Zachary Nixon Johnson novel by John Zakour, Zachary Nixon Johnson is the last freelance private investigator on Earth and takes on the job of protecting a pop star singer whose life has been threatened because of her awful musical singing talent, This, despite the fact that her audience goes into nirvana when she sings. Meanwhile, Zach's own life is threatened as he becomes the unwilling target star of an Internet reality show - "Let's Kill Zach."

This is an amusing book with P.I. Zach also dealing with the disturbing fact that his artificial intelligent sidekick changed his personality programming from a bookish man into a hot, sultry lady as an experiment. As much as Zach appreciates HARA, he misses his old friend HARV - besides, his jealous doctor girlfriend keeps breaking his home furniture. Dr. Electra can be even more dangerous than the reality show that Zach is a victim of as she gets upset that all his clients have always been beautiful women while Zach tries to find the killer threatening the beautiful pop singer. Although the book is a cynical version of the media, a lot of it has a sense of truth behind it, especially considering the marketing strategy behind both the reality show, and pop singer Sexy Sprockets fans and concerts. While the media is not normally fatally violent, it does get out of hand concerning Zach. Fortunately he is armed with both a gun and HARA/HARV.
